This weekend was raining heavily so it wasn’t the best time to photograph outdoors. But while taking a walk in my neighbourhood during a short recess of rain, these beautiful pink-brimmed yellow roses caught my eye. I must confess I stole some…and it wasn’t for romantic reasons 🙂 . I just wanted to experiment some photography and Photoshop techniques that I learned from my recently acquired book “The Photoshop Darkroom: Creative digital post-processing” by Harold Davis.
The rose is photographed in an improvised light box, at different exposures, in order to get lighter and darker images, which were afterwards blended in Photoshop with the help of layer masks. After that, I played with brushes to obtain the background and the border.
